Perseverance leads to blessing, as seen in Jacob, who refused to give up—even with God. Despite his flawed and dysfunctional family, God loved and blessed him, showing that God’s grace reaches imperfect people. On the night before meeting Esau, Jacob wrestled with God at the Jabbok and declared, “I will not let you go unless you bless me,” and there he was transformed—given the new name Israel and the place named Peniel, “the face of God.” The story calls us to wrestle with God in prayer and calling, to cling in faith until blessed, and to live as people of Peniel who encounter God face to face.
